HEISHA Launches Drone Dock Communication Protocol

Recently, one of our enterprise customers submitted a detailed capability gap list for our existing drone dock protocol, pointing out optimization areas including incomplete fullโ€‘process status feedback, partial alarm triggers and limited errorโ€‘code coverage. We highly appreciate this professional review and have responded swiftly by setting up a dedicated crossโ€‘functional project team to deliver major protocol enhancements. The revised official protocol documentation is scheduled for release within approximately one month.

In the early development phase, the Drone dock mainly adopted Modbus registerโ€‘based communication.

Additionally, a large library of status definitions, control commands, alarm triggers and error codes was built and expanded iteratively.

As domestic market demand grew, many system integrators preferred simplified integration similar to mainstream industry standards.

Thus, they prioritized oneโ€‘click takeoff, oneโ€‘click charging and other quickโ€‘access functions, with less focus on granular internal mechanical transmission status.

Accordingly, we optimized our MQTT implementation and documentation to lower integration barriers for fastโ€‘track deployments.

Nevertheless, simplified integration should never mean compromised capabilities for advanced use-cases.

For sophisticated integration and special-purpose projects, the previous protocol exposed limitations.

These included insufficient status coverage for Drone dock mechanical transmission workflows and incomplete alarm and error-code datasets.

They hindered remote fault diagnosis and end-to-end workflow supervision.

This upgrade adopts an innovative dualโ€‘compatible architecture to resolve the industry tradeโ€‘off between lightweight access and fullโ€‘granularity device visibility. Key improvements include:

  1. Full inheritance of the complete Modbus register library, retaining hundreds of entries covering hardware status, control commands, alarm events and error codes for hatch actuation, mechanical transmission, charging system and thermal management.
  2. Streamlined conversion logic for MQTT, avoiding duplicate maintenance of two bulky protocol sets while keeping implementation simple.
  3. Enhanced endโ€‘toโ€‘end status reporting, with special focus on granular status feedback throughout the entire mechanical transmission sequence of the drone dock.
  4. Complete alarm trigger framework and comprehensive errorโ€‘code library, supporting remote troubleshooting, fault localization and risk prediction for upperโ€‘level management platforms.
  5. One protocol for two development modes: supporting both fast lightweight integration and deep, fine-grained monitoring for complex deployments.

Multiple requirement reviews and internal workshops have been completed, and the overall technical blueprint is wellโ€‘defined. The new protocol document will equip system integrators and software developers with a more transparent and featureโ€‘rich interface foundation for droneโ€‘inโ€‘aโ€‘box deployments.
