A novel way to inspect powerline and electricity pylons

The first batch of DCap car rooftop drone docks is purchased by a large vehicle company for fulfilling their club members‘ shooting entertainment. But it is not the first case of using a DCap vehicle-mounted drone dock as a mobile solution for patrolling, a police station has applied it for daily patrol and emergent response.

This application is using out DCap for powerline and pylon inspection in Changsha, Hunan province. Compared with deploying several DStation sites in a vast area, a DCap mobile drone docking solution is more flexible and affordable.  

Three ways to control a DCap, using a local PDA for poor WiFi situations, using a cellphone APP to manually control the drone, or using online software to remotely control the drone for taking waypoint missions (autonomous precision landing included).
